Ariana Grande's Statement Regarding a Recent Break-Up

Above is a statement from a popular female singer in regards to a recent break up with a rapper.

I read an op-ed (my favorite thing to do) entitled ‘Ride-Or-Die’ Mentality Is Killing Black Women and it resonated with me. Why is our "loyalty" questioned when we leave toxic, abusive or unhealthy relationships? Even leaving relationships we just simply aren't happy in? Why does it seem that we have to prove our love by suffering? In our culture as black women it is deemed selfish or weak if we do not "ride or die" for our men.

If our self worth, safety or mental health is at risk, WE DO NOT OWE YOU OUR PEACE OF MIND.

I believe in love wholeheartedly. I also know that loving someone does not mean staying in abusive or toxic relationships. "Ride or Die" is not a motto I support. I enjoy my life. I'd rather love and support my significant other in our healthy, stable, relationship. I'm not dying to love anyone.
